About Joan
Joan lives in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area and has an M.S. in Journalism, an M.S. in English as a Second Language, and an M.S. in Elementary/Special Education. She has taught ESL in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Vietnam–to name a few countries.
Nonfiction books for children has been a primary focus, including books on autism and leadership for young students. She is the author of Jamie is Autistic, and Go for it Leadership Handbook for all Students. Jamie is now available in Spanish. Recently Joan has also created a writing handbook book for ESL adults looking to improve their writing, presentation, and communication skills: The Write Rules.
In fiction, Joan has written short stories that have appeared in online mystery and suspense publications. Her first novel, Secret Desires is available in English, French, and German. She is working on a historical suspense novel now.
JR has also published photography from Thailand in a UNICEF Desk Calendar. Her work also is archived in the New York Historical Society. She is a freelance journalist and ESL adjunct and has done speaking and teaching engagements with both corporations and public agencies.
